Legacy PrestaShop upgrade to a content-friendly ThirtyBees store

Context

Started on a legacy PrestaShop 1.5.x store, project required a step-by-step upgrade path through a last compatible PrestaShop 1.6.1.24 version to the latest ThirtyBees release. At the same time, a large amount of static content had to be reorganized into a more usable blog structure, even though available blog solutions were limited at that time. Some of the required content also had to be built with Creative Elements, which did not work with the selected blog module by default.

My role

Upgrade planning, content structure redesign, blog migration, compatibility work between third-party modules, and homepage content workflow customization.

Solution

I handled the upgrade path from the old store version to ThirtyBees and transformed many static pages into a blog-based structure using one of the few available blog modules at that time. I also worked on compatibility between Creative Elements and the selected blog module, including successful cooperation with the module authors so the required content workflow could function correctly. In addition, I extended the blog module to display requested article blocks with selected products on the homepage instead of the standard default product-group blocks.

Result

The store moved from a legacy setup to a more maintainable and content-friendly ThirtyBees solution for easier later upgrades. Static content became easier to organize as part of a blog structure, homepage content gained more relevance, and the project kept both design continuity and better editorial flexibility for future updates.
